The Genesee County Land Bank is the first modern Land Bank of its kind in the United States. On this, its 20th anniversary, we take an in-depth look at the many ways the Land Bank is changing the future for the City of Flint and beyond.

Meet the incredible people who are caring for vacant land, planting gardens, rehabbing abandoned homes, carrying out demolitions, becoming first-time homeowners, building new businesses, investing in Flint, and breathing new life into a resilient city that has endured a great deal of heartbreak and pain.

Thursday, the Genesee County Land Bank kicked off its Clean & Green program

Sixty acres of pavement is all that remains where the lumber, carriage and auto industry flourished, and where the 1936-37 Flint sit down strike against General Motors changed the course of history. With the factories gone, people in Flint decided it's time to do something new here and to recognize that history.

More than 200 houses in a historic Flint neighborhood will be demolished over the next few months.

Genesee County and Flint city leaders say Neighborhood Stabilization Program funds are stabilizing the housing market.

The Neighborhood Stabilization Program has made it possible to demolish hundreds of blighted homes, and rehabilitate dozens of others.

It's hard to ignore the ailing façade in parts of the Vehicle City - sagging rooftops, boarded-up windows, the overgrowth of once-pruned trees along blocks of dilapidated homes.

One look at the craftsman-style mantle and the rich hardwood floors, it's hard to believe the home at 841 E. Ninth St. as once a neighborhood eyesore.

 The Genesee County Land Bank is working to clean up the Flint area by renovating homes and knocking down blight.

We just closed 4 of our new NSP homes THIS WEEK! Chad was the last to sign, and is excited to move in to his new home in Flint's Historic Carriage Town.

A newly renovated house for sale for far less than what was spent to fix it up. The Genesee County Land Bank has five, that were just completed, on display during Saturday's Fall Homes Tour in Flint's Mott Park neighborhood.
